What we keep, and how to delete it

Without an account

Your progress (the sections and maamarim you have learned, where you stopped, the days you learned) and your display settings are kept only on your device, in your browser’s storage. We never see them. “Clear my progress on this device” on My learning removes them.

With an account

If you make an account, we keep on our server: your email address, your name, your progress (the same facts as on your device, so every device you sign in on shows the same), your reminder choice (whether you want the weekly email) and your time zone, so that email comes on Sunday morning where you are.

Your password is never stored, only a scrambled form of it (PBKDF2) that can check it but not reveal it. When you sign in, your browser keeps a sign-in cookie; we keep only a scrambled form of it, and it expires after 90 days or when you sign out.

An account whose email is never confirmed is deleted, with everything in it, after two weeks.

Emails

We email you only to confirm your address, to reset your password when you ask, and, only if you turned it on, the weekly email on Sunday morning (never on Shabbos or Yom Tov). Every weekly email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can turn it off in Settings.

Emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service. The site runs on Cloudflare. Neither may use your information for anything else.

What we never do

We never sell, rent or share your information, never show ads, and use no analytics or tracking scripts. Our server does not log your IP address, and our logs never hold your email, name or messages.

Delete everything

Sign in, open Settings, and choose Delete my account. Your email, name, progress on our server, reminder choice and sign-ins are deleted at once and for good. Your progress stays on your own device until you clear it there.
